One of the points that has sparked speculation is the
possibility of the anime’s long-awaited second season being announced. In
May of this year, a leak surfaced claiming that the second season of “Grand
Blue” was already in production. However, since then there has been no official
confirmation from the studios or the production team, leaving fans in suspense. This
upcoming event on September 29 seems to be the perfect occasion for the
information to finally be confirmed.
If the news is true, the second season would arrive
after a long waiting period. Let's remember that the first season of
the anime aired in 2018, and since then there have been no new animated
installments. In addition, the live-action film of “Grand Blue” was
released in 2020, so more than four years have passed without significant new
content from the franchise in audiovisual format.
The “Grand Blue” franchise has enjoyed great
popularity since its premiere. The anime, based on the manga by Kenji
Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, won over audiences with its irreverent humor and
college lifestyle full of parties and absurd situations. Even though
the manga continues to be published successfully, the lack of a second season
has been a constant source of discussion among fans, who hope to see more
adventures of Iori Kitahara and his friends on their chaotic journey through
college life and diving.
Grand Blue Synopsis
Iori Kitahara moves to the coastal city of Izu for his
first year of college and takes up residence at Grand Blue, his uncle's diving
shop. Iori has high hopes and dreams of having the ideal college experience,
but when he enters the shop he becomes absorbed in the alcoholic activities of
the carefree members of the Diving Club who frequent the shop. Persuaded by
upperclassmen Shinji Tokita and Ryuujirou Kotobuki, Iori reluctantly joins
their strange party.
His cousin Chisa Kotegawa later walks in and catches
him red-handed, earning Iori her utter contempt. Based on the popular comic
manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, Grand Blue follows Iori’s
misadventures with his eccentric new friends as he strives to realize his ideal
college dream, while also learning to scuba dive.
