Jiro Sugiura , the creator of the popular manga “ My Wife Has No Emotion ( Boku no Tsuma wa Kanjou ga Nai )”, has shocked his fans by announcing the indefinite suspension of the series due to stress-related issues. The author shared the news through his official Twitter account, explaining that the increasing tensions in his personal life have affected his ability to work on the series, even mentioning that his hair loss has worsened, which has generated great concern among his fans.

In his message, Sugiura wrote:

  • « The stress in my daily life has increased, and this has made it even more difficult to do illustration work, which is not my strong suit. Also, my hair loss has gotten considerably worse, so I have decided to put the serialization of 'My Wife Has No Emotion' on hold until my life calms down again .»

The author also mentioned that despite the hiatus, he will continue to create sketches and develop ideas for the manga , as he finds this process less stressful. However, the full illustration phase, which involves more time and concentration, will be put on hold until he regains his well-being. Sugiura apologized to readers who were looking forward to the continuation of the manga , and expressed his desire to resume serialization when he feels better.

The news quickly became a trending topic on social media, with thousands of fans expressing their support and wishes for Sugiura's recovery. Many highlighted the importance of prioritizing mental health and well-being, understanding the pressure that comes with working in an industry as demanding as manga. This is not the first time that a manga creator has had to pause their work due to stress, a recurring issue that has affected numerous authors in recent years, given the demand to meet weekly or monthly deadlines.

“My Wife Has No Emotion” is a series that originally debuted as a webcomic in March 2019 on Sugiura’s Pixiv account. It subsequently began serialization in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Flapper magazine in August 2019, gaining popularity for its original premise and unique characters.

The manga's success led to its anime adaptation, which began airing in July 2024. Produced by TMS Entertainment and animated by Tezuka Productions, the series has received a warm reception from fans. With stable animation quality and a faithful representation of the source material, the anime has helped to further increase the work's popularity, both in Japan and internationally.

Synopsis of My Wife Has No Emotion

Takuma Kosugi is an office worker who doesn't have enough time to take care of everything at home. To make his daily life easier, he buys a second-hand household robot named Mina, who quickly proves her worth. One day, after returning from work and having had one too many beers, Takuma half-jokingly tells her that she should become his wife. To his surprise, Mina takes his words seriously and the two begin to live as if they were married.

As the days go by, Takuma and Mina grow closer and begin doing more activities together, such as going on picnics and spending a day at the beach. However, much of society still considers relationships between humans and robots unusual. The pair must figure out whether their arrangement can succeed and how to convince the people around them of their sincerity.
