Netflix announces another anime for Cyberpunk

During Geeked Week’s live event, Netflix Animation surprised fans by announcing a new collaboration with CD Projekt Red within the Cyberpunk universe . However, no concrete details were offered on what form this project will take. The brief teaser only confirmed a “ return to Night City ,” inviting followers to stay tuned for more information.

While the announcement generated excitement, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Last month, during CD Projekt Red’s latest earnings call, the company hinted that it “definitely” has more animation projects planned within the Cyberpunk universe. Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski commented: “ We’re definitely planning to do more in terms of animation with Cyberpunk, so I hope that’s enough of an answer. You can expect more, but that’s all I can say for now .”

This new collaboration between Netflix and CD Projekt Red is their second joint project following the success of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,” which debuted in September 2022. The animated series was met with praise from fans and critics alike, rekindling interest in the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and prompting many to call for a second season.

However, neither Netflix nor CD Projekt Red have confirmed whether this “return to Night City” will be related to a second season of Edgerunners. It should be noted that the end of the first season did not leave many doors open for a continuation, which has led to speculation that Netflix Animation could be developing an entirely new story , but set in the same dystopian universe as Cyberpunk.

So far, everything remains a mystery. However, the possibility of returning to Night City has sparked many theories among fans, who are waiting for more details about this new project. In short, although details about this upcoming project are scarce, the excitement about returning to Night City is still alive, and fans are eager to find out what surprises Netflix will bring in its new collaboration with CD Projekt Red.
