One of the most popular romances of the Summer 2024 season, “ Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian ,” has managed to capture the hearts of audiences thanks to its charming plot and the unforgettable chemistry between its leads, Alya and Masachika. The series concluded on September 18 with its Episode 12, but fans are still talking about the story and waiting for more from the main couple. Fortunately, the anime has been renewed for a second season, although a premiere date has not yet been announced.

For those who can't wait to find out what happens next, there is the possibility to continue the story by reading the original light novel, written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoco. The first season of the anime covered the events of the first three volumes of the novel, which means that the next season will begin from the fourth volume. In this new part of the story, Alya and Masachika will enjoy moments together during the summer vacation, while preparing for an important student campaign.

The anime adaptation began from the prologue of the first volume titled “The Solitary Princess and Her Lazy Neighbor” and ended in the epilogue of the third volume, “Chin Up.” Those interested in following the plot from the source material can start from Volume 4, which focuses on Alya and Masachika’s summer activities as well as the adventures of the student council, with characters like Yuki, Kenzaki, and Ayano enjoying a trip to the beach.

An interesting fact is that the prologue of Volume 4 was already covered by the anime in Episode 11, which delved deeper into Masachika's past and his relationship with his mother. Still, readers can start with the prologue as it brings additional details to the story. If the next season maintains the adaptation pace of three volumes per installment, as was the case in the first season, the plot will likely also cover Volume 5, where the identity of Masachika's childhood friend is revealed. Additionally, the sequel could go as far as Volume 6, which introduces the school festival arc.

Overall, the anime of “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian” has been fairly faithful to its original source, although the animation studio, Doga Kobo, made some cuts and adjustments to maintain the on-screen pace. However, the essence of the work has remained intact, which has allowed the rom-com series to continue being a hit with viewers.
