A recent promotional clip has revealed the surprise reappearance of Mamo, a mysterious and ancient figure who made his first appearance in the 1978 film The Mystery of Mamo (also known as Lupin vs. the Clone). Not only was this character the antagonist of the franchise's first animated feature film, but he also had a brief cameo in Jigen's Gravestone in 2014, which many now see as a hint ahead of this return more than a decade later.

An ambitious project for longtime fans

This new film marks a milestone as the first 2D animated film of Lupin III in 30 years. The project is animated by Telecom Animation Film, with a screenplay by Yuya Takahashi (Lupin the 3rd Part IV) and music by James Shimoji (Redline). Redline creator Katsuhito Ishii is involved as a creative advisor, and distribution is handled by TOHO NEXT.
