debut in the manga in 1967, Lupin III has faced all kinds of
enemies. However, one of the most enigmatic and remembered by fans returns in
the new film of the franchise: Lupin the III the Movie: Fujimi no
Ketsuzoku. Directed by Takeshi Koike, this installment
promises strong emotions for fans of the classic saga.
Mamo
resurrects from the past in a new preview
A
recent promotional clip has revealed the surprise reappearance
of Mamo, a mysterious and ancient figure who made his first
appearance in the 1978 film The Mystery of Mamo (also known
as Lupin vs. the Clone). Not only was this character the antagonist
of the franchise's first animated feature film, but he also had a brief cameo
in Jigen's Gravestone in 2014, which many now see as a hint
ahead of this return more than a decade later.
An
ambitious project for longtime fans
This new
film marks a milestone as the first 2D animated film of Lupin
III in 30 years. The project is animated by Telecom Animation
Film, with a screenplay by Yuya Takahashi (Lupin the
3rd Part IV) and music by James Shimoji (Redline). Redline creator Katsuhito
Ishii is involved as a creative advisor, and distribution is handled
by TOHO NEXT.
