Recently, it has become a trend that the official
website of CLOUD HEARTS, a Japanese animation studio, is no longer available. As of October
23, checking the WHOIS information for the domain “cloudhearts.co.jp” confirms
that the status is “Deleted” and the domain has expired. CLOUD HEARTS
was responsible for the animation of the “ Whisper Me a Love Song ” (Sasayaku You
ni Koi wo Utau) series, which aired between April and June 2024, but whose last
two episodes (11 and 12) were delayed indefinitely, according to an
announcement made by the production committee in June. In addition,
the release of the series’ Blu-ray discs, which was originally scheduled for
September 2024, has also been postponed to January 2025.
CLOUD HEARTS was founded in 2021 as a spin-off company
from Yokohama Animation Lab, a larger studio that was also involved in the
production of “Whisper Me a Love Song.” However, since May of this
year, the name of CLOUD HEARTS has been removed from Yokohama Animation Lab’s
website, fueling rumors about a possible bankruptcy of the studio. In
the face of these speculations, Yokohama Animation Lab has declined to comment
when contacted by ITMedia, further increasing the uncertainty surrounding the
status of CLOUD HEARTS and the future of its projects.
CLOUD HEARTS’ recent works include “ The
Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World ” (Winter 2023), “ The
Great Cleric ” (Summer 2023), and “ The New Gate ”
(Spring 2024). Despite these projects, the production crisis has severely
affected their reputation, especially following the continued lack of
information regarding the final two episodes of “Whisper Me a Love Song.”
Fans frustrated by the lack of transparency have begun
to voice their concerns on social media. Comments such as “ If
everything was okay, they would have at least made some kind of statement ”
or “ My condolences to Sasakoi fans ” reflect the
growing pessimism. Some recall similar cases, such as the disappearance of
Tears Studio during the production of the “Fragtime” OVA five years ago,
fueling fears that history is repeating itself.
Among the most notable comments we can read:
- « Ooof.
At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the Blu-ray has PowerPoint files
as episodes ».
- « I
feel sorry for Sasakoi fans. It's a shame that such a good anime falls
into these hands ».
- « If
someone had told me before the anime premiere that all this would happen,
I wouldn't have believed them. Now I feel sorry for
the fans .»
- " They
should give this series to a competent studio so they can remake 'Whisper
Me a Love Song .'"
