A new
promotional video for the anime adaptation of Rocket Shokai 's
light novels , " Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of
Penal Hero Unit 9004 ( Yuusha- kei ni Shosu:
Choubatsu Yuusha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku )", was revealed during
Anime Japan 2025. The video confirms that the premiere is
scheduled for the Fall-2025 period (October-December) , and lists
production details and the voice cast.
Rocket
Shokai published
the original story through the independent service Kakuyomu in
October 2020, and Kadokawa has been publishing the
paperback version with illustrations by Mephisto since
September 2021. A manga adaptation by Natsumi Inoue has been
published through the same publisher's Dengeki Comic Regulus service
since March 2022.
Synopsis
of Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004
"Hero"
is the worst punishment in the world. Those convicted of heinous crimes are
sentenced to become "Heroes" and forced into mandatory military
service in the war against the Demon Lords. These convicts aren't even allowed
to die; if they are killed, they will be resurrected to fight another day. The
Hero Xylo Forbartz, former leader of the Holy Knights, leads a penal unit of
despicable fighters on the front lines.
It is in
these extreme circumstances that he meets Teoritta, one of the most powerful
weapons in the world. "When every last enemy has been defeated, you shall
praise us and stroke my head." To survive and seek revenge on those who
betrayed him, he makes a pact with the goddess and throws himself into a
whirlwind of war and intrigue.
