A while back, we mentioned that the manga " Fuufu
Ijou, Koibito Miman ( More than a Married Couple, but Not
Lovers )" was entering its final arc. Well, now it's been
confirmed that the series will be going on an indefinite hiatus so the author
can prepare for the conclusion calmly and maintain high-quality publication.
The news
was announced by Yuki Kanamaru herself via her Twitter account, where she
apologized to fans for the wait, but assured that she is fine and that
she made this decision to give the story's conclusion the importance it
deserves. For its part, Kadokawa publishing house also released a
statement confirming that, after discussing it with Kanamaru, they
decided it was necessary to take this time to polish the final development of
the story and ensure a stable publication pace when the series resumes.
In other
words, the series is on an indefinite hiatus, and there's still no exact date
for its return. However, Kadokawa confirmed that they will announce the
resumption through Young Ace magazine and on their official social media
accounts. The author also left a longer message for fans, where she
talked about how difficult it has been to maintain the publication pace during
these seven years of serialization, but that her priority now is to close the
story with a level of quality she can be proud of.
The
author is definitely preparing to end this story with a bang , and while a second season
for the anime adaptation hasn't been announced yet, here are the details about
the franchise:
- The work, written and
illustrated by Yuki Kanamaru, began serialization in Kadokawa's Young Ace
magazine in 2018. To date, the publisher has published a total of 13 compiled
book volumes, the most recent being released on March 4 of this year. The
manga is now entering its final phase with the publication of its 14th
compiled book volume.
- The manga's popularity led to
its anime adaptation in Fall 2022 (October-December), with a series
produced by Studio MOTHER. The adaptation aired in Japan, and Crunchyroll handled its
international distribution.
- The story follows Jiro Yakuin,
a high school student with no experience in love, who is paired with Akari
Watanabe, a girl who is his complete opposite, as part of a class called
"Practical Marriage." As part of the class, the two must
live together and act as a married couple in order to earn the right to
swap partners with their true crushes. However, as they progress
through this forced cohabitation, unexpected emotions begin to emerge.
