Good news for fans of "Kakkou no Iinazuke ( A Couple of Cuckoos)" ! ! As mentioned in our previous news, Weekly Shonen Magazine had confirmed a second season of the anime is coming in 2025. Now, Kadokawa has revealed more exciting details, including the cast, the new production team, and the premiere date!

The season will be directed by Masakazu Hishida , known for his work on Ensemble Stars! and Pretty Rhythm All Star Selection, at the Okuruto Noboru studio. The series will also feature new character designs by Kyoko Chika (who worked on Classroom of the Elite) and Jou Aoba (Hishida himself) in charge of the scripts. As for the music, Rei Ishizuka will return to compose the melodies , as she did for the first season.

As for the cast, the original cast will remain, but a new voice will be added: Hina Yomiya will play Ai Mochizuki, a character who promises to surprise us. It has also been confirmed that the group 22/7 will perform the season's new ending theme song, titled "Anata de Nakucha" (It Has to Be You).

The statement also included the following messages:

  • Comment by Hina Shingami (voice of Ai Mochizuki) : Ai has a unique atmosphere and rhythm that truly defines her, but what draws me in the most are her adorable smiles and impressive performances at key moments. Every time I progress through the story, I find myself even more captivated by Ai. I will do my best to interpret her charm to the best of my ability. I hope you enjoy it!

  • Commentary by Director Masakazu Hishida:  This is a very interesting source material, so I want to make sure I make the most of its charms. I'm excited to see how Ai's character, who appears in this new series, will generate excitement and drama within the complicated love quadrangle between Nagi, Erika, Hiro, and Sachi. Although this is the second season of the series, we've done our best to ensure you can enjoy it even if you're unfamiliar with the previous story, so please watch the anime with complete peace of mind!

  • Comment by Kyoko Chika: I'll do my best to convey the appeal of Yoshikawa-sensei's adorable heroines! I hope you're all excited for the second season of Kakkou no Iinazuke!

  • Noriyoshi Konuma's comment:  Congratulations on the second season of Kakkou no Iinazuke! I feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of continuing Nagi and her friends' story. The characters are very unique, with their own dramas and even mysteries, so you won't be able to stop watching how everything unfolds. I'm excited to be able to deliver an engaging story with these characters, and it seems like a new breeze is about to blow into the lives of these four... I hope you enjoy crying, laughing, and falling in love with the second season of Kakkou no Iinazuke!

  • Uta Kawase's (22/7) comment: I'm very happy to be able to immerse myself in this wonderful show, Kakkou no Iinazuke, through its ending theme song. "Anata de Nakucha" is a song that expresses the complex feelings of a girl in love who, despite being aware of her feelings, cannot express her love honestly. It's a song with a melody and lyrics that are quite different from 22/7's other theme songs, but I feel like I'm somehow singing the emotions of the characters in Kakkou no Iinazuke. The whole group is very excited for the premiere of the anime!
