Kadokawa  has confirmed that the manga The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (Hataraku Maou-sama!) will conclude with the publication of its 24th volume on Wednesday, June 26. Akio Hiiragi 's adaptation brings to a close more than a decade of demonic mayhem in the heart of Tokyo.

A demon in the modern age

The story, based on the light novels by Satoshi Wagahara , introduces us to the fearsome Demon King Satan , who after being defeated by the heroine Emilia , escapes to a parallel world. However, he ends up trapped in present-day Tokyo without powers and forced to work at a fast-food chain to survive. Thus begins a hilarious fight for promotion... but within the human corporate system!

A trajectory that marked an entire generation

The manga debuted in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in December 2011 and reached its climax in 2020. The 23rd volume was released on October 25 , and Yen Press is distributing both the novel and manga in English, with the 22nd volume publishing in December 2023.

The universe of Hataraku Maou-sama! continues to expand

Wagahara concluded the main novel series in August 2020 with its 21st volume. To celebrate the anime's continuation, the author released a new work titled Hataraku Maou-sama! ES! in 2023 , which revisits the characters in new situations.

Additionally, the franchise has featured other projects such as the spin-off manga Hataraku Maou-sama! High School! illustrated by Kurone Mishima , published between 2012 and 2015 with a total of five volumes also available through Yen Press.

An anime that crossed borders

The original novel inspired a first anime adaptation in 2013 , broadcast by Funimation and later released on Blu-ray and DVD. The second animated series, The Devil Is a Part-Timer!! (with two exclamation points), premiered in July 2022 , and its second season in 2023 marked the third television installment in the franchise. Its international streaming is handled by Crunchyroll

With this final volume, a pivotal era for fans of supernatural humor and unexpected twists on the typical hero vs. villain series comes to a close.
