Kenjirō
Hata's Fly
Me to the Moon (Tonikaku Kawaii) manga has resumed publication
this Wednesday with a new chapter included in issue 30 of Shogakukan's Weekly
Shonen Sunday magazine. The play has been on hiatus since May
7, so its return marks the end of a seven-week hiatus.
An
unconventional love story
The
romantic comedy revolves around Nasa, a young man who meets a
mysterious and charming girl named Tsukasa on the same day as
his high school entrance exam. He falls in love at first sight and confesses
his feelings to her, but she agrees to date him only if they get married. Years
later, on his 18th birthday, Tsukasa appears again... to fulfill
his promise and get married. Thus begins Nasa's curious married life.
A manga
with a great trajectory
Kenjirō
Hata launched the manga in February 2018 within the Weekly
Shonen Sunday magazine. Publisher Shogakukan published volume number 32 on June
18, while Viz Media is publishing the series in English,
having released volume 28 on May 13.
A
franchise with multiple adaptations
The work
inspired the anime series TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You, which
premiered in October 2020 with a total of 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed
the series simultaneously with its broadcast in Japan, offering dubbing in
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German.
In August
2021, an OVA titled Tonikaku Kawaii SNS was
released in Japan, which was also available for streaming on the same day via
Crunchyroll. Subsequently, in November 2022, a new special episode
was aired, also available on the platform.
The anime's
second season premiered in April 2023, and was followed by
a four-episode miniseries titled TONIKAWA: Over The
Moon For You ~High School Days~, which debuted in July 2023.
With its
return, Fly Me to the Moon continues to enchant its readers
with a story that mixes humor, tenderness and a married life as sweet as it is
out of the ordinary.
