During Anime
Expo 2025, VIZ Media surprised attendees with a new trailer
for BLACK TORCH, the long-awaited anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi
Takaki's manga. This trailer revealed the four main characters and
the voices that will bring them to life in this supernatural action story.
These
are the voices of the world of BLACK TORCH
The
confirmed cast includes well-known figures of Japanese dubbing:
- Ryota Suzuki as Jiro Azuma (Ryusui
in Dr. STONE))
- Yoji Ueda as Rago (Eisen
in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End)
- Sayaka Senbongi as Ichika
Kishimojin (Marcille in Delicious in Dungeon)
- Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara (Yuji
Itadori in JUJUTSU KAISEN)
An
experienced production team
The anime
will be directed by Kei Umabiki (Quality Assurance in
Another World) under studio 100studio. The script and
composition will be in charge of Gigaemon Ichikawa (Bogus
Skill <<Fruitmaster>>), while Go Suzuki (Sword
Art Online: Alicization) will be in charge of character design. The music
will be composed by Yutaka Yamada, known for his work in VINLAND
SAGA.
What is
BLACK TORCH about?
Jiro
Azuma is a
young man with a rough appearance but big heart, especially when it comes to
the animals he can communicate with. His life takes an unexpected turn when a
mysterious stray cat merges with him, granting him supernatural powers.
From then on, Jiro becomes embroiled in a secret war between humans and
mononoke, Japanese spirits that threaten to upset the balance of the world.
The series
does not yet have a confirmed premiere date, but the recent trailer
promises a faithful adaptation of the manga, full of action,
supernatural creatures and intense battles.
The
original BLACK TORCH manga is published in English by VIZ
Media and has a solid fan base who are eagerly awaiting its arrival in
anime.
