After
almost a decade since Blood Blockade Battlefront (2015), renowned
director Rie Matsumoto returns in collaboration with
the Bones studio, now under its new division Bones Film, to
bring to the small screen the manga Fate Rewinder, created by Futa
Kimura. To celebrate this news, a super teaser has been released
along with a visual starring the main character, Chrono.
Creative
team and production
Rie
Matsumoto is
directing the project with the same team that worked on Blood Blockade
Battlefront and the Pokémon music video "GOTCHA!", although
the full cast of the staff has not yet been confirmed. Story Inc.,
known for producing Makoto Shinkai's films, will be in charge
of the production of this series, marking its first foray into television
anime. The release date is still to be announced.
Plot and
origin of the manga
Futa
Kimura's original
manga began serialization in Monthly Coro-Coro Comic magazine
on January 15, 2022, and to date has nine compilation volumes published in
Japan.
The story
follows Chrono, a 14-year-old boy who is a member of the space-time
police special forces known as "Rewinder". This organization uses a
power called Retry Eye to rescue people who have already died,
repeatedly traveling back in time to ensure a future where the victim is still
alive.
