The Gachiakuta
anime has just started streaming on July 7 at 6:30 p.m.
(Spanish time) through Crunchyroll, and after the
premiere, it was confirmed that the series will have two consecutive
seasons (cours) without interruptions.
The first
episode, titled "The Sphere", is now available on
the streaming platform. This adaptation is based on the manga created by Kei
Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, a collaboration
that has given a distinctive and aggressive visual style to the work.
A
high-caliber production
The
animation is in the hands of the BONES studio, under the
direction of Fumihiko Suganuma (known for his work on DRAGON
QUEST: The Adventure of Dai). The script is by Hiroshi Seko (DAN
DA DAN), the character design and animation direction are in charge
of Satoshi Ishino (Godzilla Singular Point) and the
soundtrack is the work of the renowned Taku Iwasaki (Gurren
Lagann).
A raw
and dizzying story
Published
since February 2022 in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, the manga
already has 14 compilation volumes in Japan. In English, it is
officially distributed by Kodansha USA.
The story
is set in a floating city where the rich dispose of their garbage – and also
people – into the abyss known as the "Well". There, Rudo is
unjustly accused of murder and thrown into this hell inhabited by monsters made
of waste. To survive, he must awaken a new power and join the mysterious Cleaners,
fighting not only against mutant creatures, but also against the corrupt system
that doomed him.
With a dark
approach and a rather rebellious and beautiful aesthetic, Gachiakuta aims
to become one of the most intense bets of the summer season.
