This Sunday, the team behind the musical project Harmony of Mille-Feuille (Utagoe wa Mille-Feuille) announced that its anime adaptation will premiere on Wednesday, July 17 at 2:25 p.m. (Spanish time) through the TOKYO MX channel. The news came with a new promotional trailer and key illustration.

The trailer offers a first look at the series' theme song, titled "Omoidebanashi" (translated as "Nostalgic Conversation"), performed by the lead voice cast.

A story of youth told through voice

The story follows Uta Komaki, a shy first-year high school student who, despite her insecurities, dreams of living an ordinary youth. Hoping to fit in, she tries to join the light music club, but her reserved personality leads to failure. In the midst of her desperation, Uta discovers the world of a cappella singing, a form of music created exclusively with the human voice.

There she finds a group of girls who, like her, have scars and frailties. United only by their harmonized voices, these young women weave a story of growth, overcoming and emotional connection. As the motto of the series puts it: "Even without shining, it is still youth".

Great production team behind

The series is directed by Kiyoto Nakajima (Villainess Level 99) at the Jumondo studio, under the supervision of CEO Takuya Satō (Steins; Gate). The character design is by Chisato Kikunaga and Hitomi Kaiho, while the music is produced by Pony Canyon.

The original concept was developed by Pony Canyon in collaboration with video game creator Takuya Yamanaka, who also writes the scripts. The original character design was the work of Che-Rico.

A project that transcends anime

Harmony of Mille-Feuille was born in April 2022 as a project focused on the themes of "a cappella", "high school girls" and "emotional complexity". Since then, she has given life to voice dramasmusic videos starring the seiyuus and documentaries about her vocal training. The arrival of anime marks a new chapter for this moving proposal that seeks to prove that it is not necessary to shine to live an authentic youth.
