The
official website of the Wistoria: Wand and Sword (Tsue to
Tsurugi no Wistoria) anime announced on Sunday that the second
season will premiere sometime in 2026. The news was accompanied by a commemorative
illustration made by Toshi Aoi, artist of the original manga, on the
occasion of the anime's first anniversary.
The first
season debuted in July 2024 through TBS and 27 other
affiliate networks in Japan. Crunchyroll streamed the series
simultaneously internationally, including an English dub. It should be
noted that the fourth episode suffered a delay of one week and
finally aired in August of that year.
A
high-level creative team
The first
season was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, recognized for his work
as action director on Chainsaw Man, under the joint production
of Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures. Character
design and animation direction were handled by Sayaka Ono (CROSS
ANGE), while Raita Sunaga, Yoshirou Harada,
and Ryou Akizuki designed the creatures of the universe. The
music was composed by Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia),
and the sound direction was in the hands of Hiroto Morishita at Jinnan
Studio.
A story
of effort without magic
Kodansha
USA Publishing publishes
the manga in English, and released the ninth volume on May 27. The
publisher describes the story as a new fantasy adventure full of magic and
dungeons, written by Fujino Ōmori, also author of DanMachi,
and illustrated by Toshi Aoi.
The
protagonist, Will Serfort, enters the prestigious Magical
Academy in Regarden with the promise of reaching the top of the
wizarding world, driven by a promise from childhood. However, there is one big
hurdle: Will cannot use magic. Will his seemingly ordinary sword be
the key to unleashing his true potential?
The
manga continues to expand
The series
began publication in December 2020 in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine.
The manga's 13th compilation volume will be released in
Japan on Wednesday, July 10. The first part of the story, known as
the "Terminalia Arc," concluded in May 2023,
followed by an epilogue chapter in June.
With a
second season already confirmed, Wistoria: Wand and Sword promises
to continue captivating fans with a story where willpower can overcome even the
lack of magic.
