On July
12, the official website and the X account
(formerly Twitter) were inaugurated to announce the anime
adaptation of Hono no Tokyujo: Dodge Danko, a manga
created by Tetsuhiro Koshita. The television series is scheduled to
premiere sometime in 2026.
The project
will be a direct continuation of the classic Hono no
Tokyuji: Dodge Danpei, a manga originally published between 1989
and 1995 in Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic magazine.
The original story also inspired a 47-episode anime series that
aired from October 1991, as well as several video games.
A
daughter inherits a passion for dodgeball
Hono no
Tokyujo: Dodge Danko centers
on the daughter of the original protagonist, Danpei, who now takes over as the
new hero in this competitive and passionate world of dodgeball. This sequel has
been published since November 2022 on the Weekly
CoroCoro Comic website, and has piqued the interest of nostalgic fans
and a new generation of readers.
First
visual details of the anime
Along with
the announcement, a first promotional video was presented as
well as a visual illustration with the renewed style of the
project. Although details of the production team and cast have not yet been
revealed, it is expected that more news will be confirmed in the coming months.
With this
adaptation, the Dodge Danpei saga returns to television more
than 30 years after its last broadcast, betting on a
generational approach that connects the legacy of the past with a fresh and
modern narrative.
