The
publisher Kadokawa confirmed that the manga The
Demon Prince of Momochi House: Succession (Momochi-san Chi no
Ayakashi Ōji -Tsugu-), the work of Aya Shouoto, will end with
its next chapter, which will be published in the November issue of Asuka magazine,
available on September 24 in Japan (UTC+2).
A brief
but significant sequel
The series,
which serves as a limited sequel to the original manga, debuted in July
2023 and so far has two compilation volumes, the second of
which was released on January 24. Although its duration was brief,
the story continued to expand the universe of the Momochi and their links to
the spiritual.
A legacy
of romance and fantasy
The
original work, The Demon Prince of Momochi House, was published by
Shouoto between 2013 and 2019 in the same magazine Asuka,
ending with a total of 16 volumes. The story follows Himari
Momochi, a young orphan who inherits an old mansion when she turns sixteen.
However, he
discovers that the residence serves as a border between the human and spiritual
worlds, and that a mysterious demon, accompanied by two other young men, has
already taken his place as guardian of the house.
Franchise
Media Expansion
The success
of the original manga led to the production of a 2015 stage play and
a drama CD, eventually culminating in an anime adaptation released
in January 2024. The publisher Viz Media, through
its Shojo Beat imprint, was in charge of the English
distribution of both the original manga and this sequel.
With its
final chapter in sight, readers are preparing to say goodbye to a story that
managed to combine romance, fantasy and Japanese folklore with great
sensitivity.
