Bandai
Namco Filmworks and Shinei Animation have released a new music trailer for
the film adaptation of the novel Toritsukare Otoko (The
Obsessed Man), written by Shinji Ishii. Along with the trailer, it
was confirmed that the film will be released on November 7 in
Japan.
The story
will be in the format of a musical film and will star Masaya
Sano, a member of the group Ae!, who will give life to Giuseppe. The
co-star will be Moka Kamishiraishi, who will play Pechka. Both
actors will also be in charge of performing the songs of the film.
A story
of love, obsessions and redemption
The
original novel, published in 2001, revolves around Giuseppe, a
peculiar man who everyone in his city knows as "the obsessed man",
due to his habit of focusing intensely on a single interest for short periods
of time. Everything changes when he meets Pechka, a balloon seller
with whom he falls in love at first sight. However, the sadness that she keeps
in her heart creates a barrier that Giuseppe cannot cross.
With the
help of his inseparable friend, a little mouse named Cielo,
Giuseppe begins to use the knowledge gained from his past obsessions to try to
get closer to Pechka and heal her pain.
Original
music and an experienced team
The
soundtrack will feature the participation of atagi, a member of
Awesome City Club, who composed five original songs and part
of the film's ambient music. In the trailer, you can hear the song "Fanfare
~Koi ni Ukarete~", performed by Sano and Kamishiraishi.
The
direction is in the hands of Wataru Takahashi, known for his work
in several Crayon Shin-chan films, while the script has been
written by Naoyuki Miura (Fujoshi, Ukkari Gay ni Kokuru).
The character designs were made by Masatsugu Arakawa (Windy
Tales, Medabots Spirit).
Distributed
by Bandai Namco Filmworks, Toritsukare Otoko promises to be a
moving and visually enchanting musical experience that explores the power of
emotions, love, and personal transformation.
