World Trigger pauses again for the author's health

This Monday, the official account of the manga World Trigger announced a new pause in its publication due to the state of health of its author, Daisuke Ashihara. As a result, a new chapter will not be published in the next issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine, which will come out on August 4. The work is scheduled to return in the magazine's October issue, scheduled for September 4.

A history of recurring pauses

It is not the first time that the manga has gone on hiatus. Earlier this year, Ashihara took a break in January to focus on the next compilation volume, and then extended the hiatus in February for medical reasons. The manga returned with a new chapter in the April issue, published on March 4.

In August 2023 and again in January 2024, the series was also stopped for the same reason: the author's delicate state of health.

A journey that has had ups and downs

World Trigger debuted in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in 2013. However, a pause in November 2016 marked a critical point for Ashihara's physical problems. The series briefly returned in October 2018 for five issues, before moving permanently to Jump SQ. in December 2018. Volume 28 of the manga was published in Japan on February 4.

Currently, both Viz Media and MANGA Plus publish the series digitally, simultaneously. Viz Media also distributes the print version.

From cartoons to stage and television

The anime's first season premiered in October 2014, followed by a sequel in October 2015. The English dub began airing in February 2020. The second season arrived in January 2021 with a total of 12 episodes, while the third season premiered in October 2021 within TV Asahi's NUMAnimation block.

Both have English dubbing and were broadcast simultaneously with their broadcast in Japan through an anime platform.

The saga also conquers the stage

In addition to anime, World Trigger has been adapted for the stage with several stage plays. The first production was presented between November and December 2021, followed by a second in August 2022 and a third in August 2023.

The fourth staging, based on the "Invasion of Galopoula" arc, was presented in October and November 2024 in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka. The fifth stage adaptation, which covers the "Final Battle of Rank B" arc, was made between April and May of this year.
