The Date
A Live franchise has kicked off an emotional celebration for the tenth
anniversary of the film Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement.
Through its official account in X, a commemorative illustration created
by Tsunako, original illustrator of the light novels, was shared to
pay tribute to this special milestone.
Koshi
Tachibana's message
The author
of the light novel, Koshi Tachibana, also joined the celebration
with a message for fans:
"Happy
10 years to Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement! Thank you very much for everything.
Ten years have passed since that summer. Mayuri was part of the 'system' and
was an arbiter. However, as she observed Shido and the Spirits, she began to
feel the desire to be found. Thank you for discovering it at that time and for
letting it live in a corner of your heart during this decade. I take this
opportunity to express my sincere gratitude. See you on the 20th anniversary...
just kidding."
Special
screening in Japan
The film, based on an original story overseen by Tachibana, was released in Japan on August 22, 2015. As part of the commemorative project, the film will have an exclusive one-day screening at the KADOKAWA Cinema Yurakucho in Tokyo on August 22, 2025 (local time). Attendees will receive a postcard with Tsunaco's commemorative illustration as an entrance gift.
A legacy
that lives on
The anime
adaptation of Date A Live, created by Tachibana, has five
seasons aired between 2013 and 2024, in addition to the film Mayuri
Judgment. Both the seasons and the film are available on Crunchyroll for
various regions of the world, including Europe, America and Asia.
The story
follows Shido Itsuka, a high school student who encounters a
mysterious girl at the epicenter of a space earthquake. He soon
discovers, thanks to his sister Kotori, that the young woman is
actually one of the Spirits, beings responsible for these
catastrophes. To stop the threat they pose, Shido must seal his powers... But
there is only one method: to make them fall in love with it.
