Distributor
Shochiku unveiled
a new teaser for the original film L'étoile of Paris en fleur (also
known as Étoile Blossoming in Paris), directed by Gorō
Taniguchi (Code Geass, One Piece Film Red) and
produced by Arvo Animation. The trailer revealed the addition of
two new members to the cast.
New characters confirmed
- Lina Arashi (My Small Land)
will play Chizuru, a descendant of a samurai lineage expert in
naginata, who ends up entering the world of ballet.
- Taichi Saotome will give life to Ruslan, a young Russian who lives in the same Parisian building as the protagonist Fujiko.
A story
of dreams in difficult times
The plot
follows Fujiko, who aspires to become a painter, and Chizuru,
who is attracted to ballet. Both met by chance in Yokohama at the beginning of
the twentieth century. Fate reunites them again in Paris, where they fight
together to achieve their dreams in the midst of a complicated time. The motto
of the project is clear: "I want to flourish, in this city".
Top-notch
creative team
The feature
film has an outstanding creative team. Katsuya Kondō, known for his
work on Kiki and Ponyo's Courier, designs the original
characters in his first collaboration with Taniguchi. Ami Tōma (Lonely
Castle in the Mirror) plays Fujiko.
The
screenplay was written by Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden, Kaleido
Star), while Yū Yamashita adapted Kondō's designs into
animation. The soundtrack is by Takayuki Hattori (Mobile
Suit Gundam: The Origin).
