The
film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle continues
unbeatable in Japanese theaters, maintaining the first place at the box office
during the weekend of August 22 to 24, 2025. According to the
specialized portal Kogyo Tsushinsha, the film grossed 1.154 billion yen (approximately
7.84 million dollars) with 764,000 tickets sold in its sixth week in theaters.
Despite a
38.5% drop compared to the previous week, the film once again surpassed all its
competition and consolidated its absolute reign at the Japanese box office.
Infinity
Castle beats Titanic
According
to the official report on the social network X (formerly
Twitter), the film has accumulated a total of 28.087 billion yen (about
191 million dollars) in 38 days since its premiere on July 18, 2025,
with more than 19.8 million attendees. This figure represents 108.1% of
the revenue that Mugen Train achieved in the same
period of time.
Thanks to
these results, Infinity Castle is already positioned as
the third highest-grossing film in history in Japan, surpassing
James Cameron's Titanic (27,770 million yen in 1997).
Other
novelties at the Japanese box office
In its
third weekend, the film Crayon Shin-chan: Cho Karei! Shakunetsu no
Kasukabe Dancers remained in fifth place, while the live-action
adaptation of the romantic manga Gazing at the Star Next Door debuted
in ninth place after opening in 307 theaters.
For its
part, the film Eiga Odekake Kozame: Tokai no Otomodachi, based
on the anime Odekake Kozame, debuted in tenth position with 221
theaters released. At the same time, the science fiction film AS ONE,
inspired by Square Enix's Starwing video game Paradox, failed
to enter the Top 10 despite being screened in 140 theaters.
