Kodansha's Magazine
Pocket platform confirmed that author Soborou, known for
the controversial romantic comedy Why the Hell are You Here, Teacher!?,
will premiere a new manga titled Jukebox. The launch is scheduled
for August 23 in Japan.
Soborou
road that he has had so far
The
manga Why the Hell are You Here, Teacher!? began in 2016 as a
series full of erotic humor and extreme situations. Before consolidating, the
project had been published as a series of one-shots under the
title Golden Times. The work suffered a pause in August
2020 due to a sudden illness of the author, returning only in August
2024 to officially conclude on October 31 of the same year.
Adaptations
and international distribution
The work
inspired an anime adaptation in April 2019, in addition to an OVA
episode released in December of the same year. The anime was
licensed by Sentai Filmworks, broadcast through HIDIVE and Crunchyroll,
in addition to having English dubbing and an uncensored version in home format.
In parallel, BookWalker Global is collaborating with Kodansha
USA Publishing to release the work digitally in English.
Other
recent projects
Soborou
also worked alongside screenwriter Shigemitsu Harada on the
manga Love and Peace, published in Monthly Shonen Magazine since August
2022. The series ended in October 2023, and Kodansha released
its third and final compilation volume in December 2023.
Expectations
for Jukebox
With this
new project, Soborou's followers hope to discover what narrative
direction Jukebox will take, after the closure of his previous
works. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional illustration shared
through the official Magazine Pocket account.
