The
official sites of the anime ZatsuTabi -That's Journey-, scheduled
for spring 2025, and Touring After the Apocalypse, scheduled for
the fall of the same year, have revealed special collaborative
illustrations. Both stories share the same axis: travels through Japan, and
their original mangas are published in KADOKAWA's Dengeki Maoh magazine
Protagonists
in opposite worlds
The first
illustration shows Chika Suzugamori, the protagonist of ZatsuTabi,
transferred to the setting of Touring After the Apocalypse. The
motto that accompanies the image is clear: "There are journeys that can
only be made in the apocalypse".
In the
second visual they are Youko and Airi, the two
protagonists of Touring After the Apocalypse, who immerse
themselves in the world of ZatsuTabi. Its promotional message
states: "No plans. No correct answers. An improvised trip with
detours."
ZatsuTabi,
an unexpected journey
Kenta
Ishizaka's anime
aired from April 7 to June 30, 2025, in Japan, with a total of 12
episodes. The series, available on Crunchyroll for much of the
world, follows Chika, an aspiring mangaka who, after seeing her
drafts rejected, decides to embark on an adventure outside of her desk. With
the help of social media surveys, she visits random destinations where she
lives from comical situations to emotional encounters, finding new inspirations
and friendships at every step.
Tourism
in a desolate world
For its
part, Sakae Saito's play will premiere its animated adaptation
in October 2025. The story follows two girls who, after the
collapse of civilization, travel through the ruins of Japan on a motorcycle.
Despite the post-apocalyptic context, they take advantage of the freedom to
visit iconic sites such as the Hakone Hot Springs or the Tokyo
Big Sight, proving that even among rubble, there is always room to discover
the beauty of the journey.
