The magical
world of Witch Hat Atelier will have to wait a little longer
to jump from the pages of manga to TV screens. Through a statement on social
networks, the production team announced that the long-awaited adaptation will
no longer debut in 2025, but will be delayed until 2026. The decision, as
explained, seeks to ensure that the series maintains a standard of quality
worthy of the universe created by Kamome Shirahama. A painful delay, but one
that at least promises a more polished result.
The
official announcement
In his post
you could read a message with a solemn tone (although fans are not happy at
all):
"The
Witch Hat Atelier television anime will have its broadcast schedule changed
from 2025 to 2026 in order to deliver the series with the highest possible
quality and show all its charm. We apologize to all those who were waiting for
the broadcast. Our staff is working with the utmost dedication and care in the
production. More updates will be announced as soon as they are decided. We ask
for your patience and understanding."
Which
basically translates to: we have to wait another whole year because they want
to make it perfect.
Synopsis
of Witch Hat Atelier
In a
world where everyone takes wonders like spells and dragons for granted, Coco is
a girl with a very simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everyone knows
that magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with that gift.
Resigned to her life without magic, she is about to give up until she meets
Qifrey, a mysterious traveling magician. After watching him use a type of magic
she had never seen, Coco discovers that what everyone "knows" might
not be entirely true and that her dream could be much closer than it seems.
Production
Equipment
The project
will be in charge of the animation studio BUG FILMS. The
creative team includes:
- Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea,
Space Brothers) as director.
- Kairi
Unabara in character design.
- Yuka Kitamura (Bloodborne, Elden Ring)
composing the music.
The
production was announced in 2022 and has since raised expectations thanks to
the prestige of the original manga.
A delay
that hurts, but promises
Although no
one enjoys having their favorite anime postponed, the delay of Witch
Hat Atelier can be a positive sign. At the end of the day, it is
preferable to wait to receive a careful and faithful work to the manga, than to
see a hurried and poorly executed product. So, while Coco learns to defy the
rules of the wizarding world, we'll have to exercise patience until 2026.
