Production on a sequel for the film has been confirmed Kamiarizuki no Kodomo (Child of Kamiari Month), released in 2021. The new project is titled Kamisari no Kemono (Beast of Kamisari Month) and will begin filming in 2025.
Along with the announcement were a piece of concept art and a pilot video available for a limited time. The preview shows the meeting between two characters: a hooded figure similar to the demon Yasha from the original film and an individual with wings.
The history of Kamisari no Kemono it will be developed mainly on the islands of Awaji and Onogoro, considered in Japanese mythology as the first lands formed during the creation of the country.
The original film was directed by Takana Shirai (animation assistant at Children of the Sea) under the production of LIDENFILMS. The script was written by Ryuta Miyake (The Asadas!), Tetsuro Takita (Goemon) and the creator himself Toshinari Inoue, who also served as communications director. The character design was in charge of Haruka Sagawa (Call of the Night, Re:ZERO Season 3).
The cast included Aju Makita like Kanna, Maaya Sakamoto (Shinobu Oshino in Monogatari Series, Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy VII Remake) like Shiro, and Miyu Irino (Haku in Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, Shoya Ishida in Koe no Katachi) like Yasha.
