Get ready for an unusual mix of visual horror and laid-back comedy. Kadokawa has officially opened the website for the anime adaptation of the manga Reiwa no Dara-san (Dara-san of Reiwa), an original work by Haruomi Tomotsuka. The series is scheduled to premiere on Japanese TVs in 2026, and it promises to bring a lot of awkward laughs.
What is most striking is the staff gathered for this project. The animation will be in charge of Asahi Production, under the direction of Masato Suzuki, known for his work in the controversial and popular Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete. As if that wasn't enough, the character design is in the hands of Kouichi Kikuta, the man behind KonoSuba's unique and fluid style (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!). The music will be composed by Rei Ishizuka (Kakkou no Iinazuke) with production by Lantis.
What is Reiwa no Dara-san about?
The story begins like a horror movie: two brothers get lost in a forbidden forest in the rain and encounter a monstrous and horrifying shadow. That entity is Dara-san, a goddess of misfortune. However, instead of devouring them, it turns out that she's quite... peculiar. Despite her initial grotesque appearance, Dara-san has a personality that will surprise you (and make you laugh) once you meet her.
The manga, which started on X (formerly Twitter) and was serialized on ComicWalker (now Kadocomi), has already been recognized in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! ranking, so expectations are high.
