Double
celebration for the master of comedy manga. The anime adaptation of Mr.
Clice, Osamu Akimoto's long-running action and espionage
work, has been officially announced as part of the commemoration of its 40th
anniversary of serialization. But the news doesn't end there: the sister
franchise, the legendary KochiKame, will also return to television.
The manga,
which began in 1985 in the Monthly Shonen Jump and continues
today in the Jump SQ. RISE, follows Jin Kurisu
(Clice), an elite superspy who dies in an accident. His brain is
transplanted into a woman's body, allowing her to revive. Now, determined to
regain his original male body, he travels the world on dangerous missions in a
mix of frenetic action and absurd comedy.
Shin
KochiKame: A Controversial Reboot
On the same
day, the Shin KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops project was revealed.
This new anime marks the franchise's first full-scale production in ten years
(since 2016). The animation will be in charge of the Gallop studio.
However,
the announcement brings a significant change: the project will have a refreshed
approach with an all-new voice cast. Details about the new actors
will be revealed in September 2026.
