In the rain, words
are sometimes superfluous. The company REMOW announced on
Tuesday the main production details for the anime adaptation of Kuzushiro's manga, The
Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki). In addition to
revealing the main staff and a teaser visual image, a special collaboration
illustration was shared with the franchise A Mangaka's Weirdly
Wonderful Workplace (Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu), another work
by the same author.
The project will
be directed by Tomoe Makino (Aharen-san wa Hakarenai)
under the CompTown studio. The creative team is
completed with:
- Series Scripts: Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars! Shokugeki
no Soma).
- Character
design: Ayumi Nishibata (Otherside
Picnic).
Words from the creator
Along with the
announcement, REMOW published a short interview with Kuzushiro.
On the themes of the work, the author commented: "They all carry worries
and struggles that are not seen with the naked eye... Although the protagonists
are high school girls, the problems they face are the ones that people
encounter throughout their lives."
Kuzushiro also
highlighted the work of the animation team: "The production team's deep
understanding and affection for the characters shines through in every part of
the anime."
A history of
connection
The plot begins on
a rainy night when Saki, in a hurry to get to her piano lesson,
bumps into a beautiful and mysterious girl. The next day, he discovers that
this girl is his new deskmate, Kanon. Saki soon learns that Kanon
has a hearing impairment and keeps people away with a cold attitude. However,
Saki will try to break down those walls, discovering new feelings in the
process.
The manga was
launched at Kodansha's Comic Days in 2021, and its
11th volume will be published on January 20. This adaptation
promises to be an emotional journey about communication and mutual
understanding.
