Bushiroad Announces Anime and Stage Play for Its ZERO RISE Project

Street basketball will be the next big stage for Bushiroad. During the Cardfight!! Vanguard 15th Anniversary: Bushiroad New Year Announcements 2026 held on Monday, the company revealed its new cross-media project titled ZERO RISE, which will simultaneously feature a television anime and a play.


The staging will take place from May 2 to 17 at the Hikōsen Theater in Tokyo. Following in the tradition of the company's franchises such as Revue Starlight, it was confirmed that the cast members will play their characters both on stage and in the anime.

The project presented the teams that will star in this story:


  • UNFIXX: Led by Hiroki Sasamori as Madoka Kurogare.
  • KINGS+HOOT: With Hiroki Ishibashi as Daiki Sugawara.
  • RumbleWing[s]: Featuring Ren Tahara as Tsubasa Hirai.
  • BLACKSPOT: Starring Shota Kawakami as Takeshi Hari.


Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani is credited with the original concept, while Yoshiki Watabe handles the concept of the series and From Tokyo the character designs. The direction of the play falls to Nobuhiro Mōri.


About ZERO RISE


The story focuses on young people who have been expelled or have quit the world of professional basketball for various reasons. Set in a world where the gap between rich and poor is widening and integrity is in short supply, these outcasts will fight to survive and seize a second chance at an underground street basketball league called "Zero Rise."
