TO Books
announced on Wednesday that the light novel series I Was Reincarnated
as the Heroine on the Verge of a Bad Ending, and I'm Determined to Fall in
Love! (known in Japan as Bad End Mokuzen no Heroine ni Tensei
Shita Watashi, Konse de wa Renai Suru Tsumori ga Cheat na Ani ga Hanashite
Kuremasen!?) officially has an anime adaptation in the
pipeline.
To
celebrate the green light of the project, Ikuto Nanase, responsible
for illustrating the manga adaptation of the franchise, shared a commemorative
illustration through his social networks. Interestingly, the author of the
original work, Kotoko, is having an excellent year, as another of
her novels (The Final-Boss Prince is Somehow Obsessed with the Chubby
Villainess) also confirmed her own anime recently.
Details
of I Was Reincarnated as the Heroine on the Verge of a Bad Ending, and I'm
Determined to Fall in Love!
As it is a
completely fresh announcement, the production committee has still reserved the
technical details. For now, there is no information about which studio will be
in charge of the animation, who will be part of the voice cast or what the
premiere window will be. We will have to keep an eye on the next updates that
will be released in the coming months.
What is
the story about?
The plot
follows an office worker with an unwavering mentality and a fan of dating
simulators, who one day wakes up in the body of Reine Waynewright,
the adorable heroine of her favorite fantasy otome game.
However, not everything is rosy: in this world, Reine is an F-rank student at
the prestigious Heartfelt Academy, suffers from bullying from her peers, and is
completely ignored by her love interests due to her lack of magical talent.
Knowing
exactly how the game works, Reine is determined to avoid at all costs the
impending "Bad Ending" that awaits her. Using her tenacity as an
adult, she sets out to study tirelessly, practice her magic, and pass all the
exams to rise through the ranks and change her destiny completely.
About
the work
The
original story, written by Kotoko, began publishing on the popular
website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2021. The following year, TO
Books acquired the rights to release it in physical format. The first
two volumes featured art by Tsukasa Satsuki, while Kei
Kumanomi took over the illustrations from the third volume in December
2022.
The manga
adaptation by Ikuto Nanase has been published on the Corona EX website
since June 2022. As a milestone for the franchise, both the tenth volume of the
light novel and the eighth compilation volume of the manga will go on sale in
Japan on March 1.
