The descent
into the unknown continues on the big screen. It has been officially confirmed
that the movie Made in Abyss Awakening Mystery (Made in
Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi) will be released in autumn 2026. This
production represents the first installment of a new film series that will
serve as a direct continuation of the anime.
The
animation production will once again be in charge of Kinema Citrus,
the studio responsible for the previous seasons and the film Dawn of
the Deep Soul. Along with the announcement, the details of the main staff
and a first preview of what awaits Riko, Reg and Nanachi were revealed.

Abyss Awakening Mystery Movie Details
The key
creative team returns to maintain the visual and narrative consistency of the
franchise. The direction once again falls to Masayuki Kojima, with
scripts and series composition by Hideyuki Kurata. The character
design is the work of Yuka Kuroda and Kazuchika Kise (Production
I.G), while the acclaimed soundtrack will once again be composed by Kevin
Penkin.

About the franchise
Created
by Akihito Tsukushi, the original manga has surpassed 22 million
copies in circulation. The anime adaptation began in 2017, followed by the 2020
film and the second season, The Golden City of the Scorching Sun,
in 2022. This new film series seeks to adapt the following arcs of the manga,
delving even deeper into the mysteries of the Abyss.
