The drama
of the imperial court will have to wait a few more months. The official website
for the anime adaptation of Though I Am an Inept Villainess (Futsutsuka
na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga) announced on Thursday that the premiere of the
series has been delayed until July 2026. Originally, the release
was scheduled for April.
According
to the statement issued by the production committee, the decision is due to
"delays in the progress of production." The team expressed its
apologies to fans who were eagerly awaiting the series, lamenting the
inconvenience caused by the change in schedule.

The series
is being produced by the Doga Kobo studio, under the direction
of Mitsue Yamazaki (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun). The
scripts are supervised by Yoshiko Nakamura and the character
design is in charge of Ai Kikuchi.
Voice
cast
Despite the
date change, the main cast remains confirmed:
- Manaka Iwami as Kou Reirin,
the "butterfly" of the imperial court.
- Natsumi Kawaida as Shu Keigetsu,
the "rat" of the court.
About
the work
Based on
the light novels by Satsuki Nakamura with illustrations
by YukiKana, the story is set in a kingdom inspired by historical
China. The plot revolves around Kou Reirin, a fragile maiden destined to be
empress, who swaps bodies with her rival Shu Keigetsu. However, far from
despairing, Reirin takes advantage of her new robust and healthy body to
survive palace intrigues and even the threat of execution.
