The
Japanese publishing industry reports the loss of one of its contemporary
authors. The department of the Weekly Shonen Magazine of
the Kodansha publishing house has issued an official statement
to confirm the death of mangaka Majuro Kaname. According to the
report, the death occurred during the month of February, keeping
information about his age and exact medical causes confidential.
By decision
of his inner circle, the funeral services were carried out in a strictly
private manner, with only the presence of his closest relatives before the
information was made public to the media and readers
At the time
of his death, the writer was preparing drafts for the fourteenth chapter of his
manga on air, Doku or Kurawaba Sakura Made. This story was in
publication since October of last year through the digital portal Getsu
Maga Kichi, with the art work of illustrator Takahiro Obata.
After a
series of meetings between the editorial department, the illustrator in charge
and Kaname's relatives, the final decision was made to conclude the
serialization of the work in its chapter 13. All material completed to date
will be collected and distributed in a second and final printed volume.

Kaname's
most recognized work in the manga industry was Can You Just Die, My
Darling? (Konya wa Tsuki ga Kirei desu ga, Toriaezu Shine). The
main plot of this psychological thriller and school romance follows a young
student who, suddenly and inexplicably, develops a dangerous and uncontrollable
murderous impulse aimed specifically at the girl he is deeply in love with.
This
particular premise of suspense allowed the work to remain in serialization
uninterruptedly for six years, managing to accumulate a total of ten
compilation volumes in the Japanese market before its official conclusion in
January 2021
