Body-swapping stories always make for hilarious situations, but the chaos is heightened when they involve a lethal killer and a young student. The publisher Kadokawa made official the production of an animated adaptation for the manga JM (whose full title translates as JM: The story about a murderer named J and a lonely girl named Megumi). To celebrate this important milestone in the franchise, the original creator shared a special commemorative illustration through his social networks.

This new television bet promises to catch lovers of absurd comedy, bringing back the unmistakable narrative style of Masao Ohtake, an industry veteran who has already conquered the world of animation in the past with his acclaimed and funny series Hinamatsuri.

What is the story about?

The premise introduces us to J, a lethal professional hitman. Orphaned as a child, he was raised by a ruthless criminal syndicate to become the perfect hitman. Its effectiveness was so overwhelming that it ended up knowing too much about the organization. When his superiors tried to eliminate him to silence him, the plan failed miserably: J completely annihilated three entire unions, earning him the nickname "untouchable."

At the other end of town lives Megumi, a smart but lonely third-grader who is constantly bullied by her classmates because of her excellent grades and her half-Japanese, half-American ancestry. On any given day, the destinies of both intersect in the most absurd way possible: they collide their heads by accident and their consciousness changes bodies.

Now, the underworld's deadliest hitman is trapped in the body of an adorable little girl, while the little student inhabits the body of a muscular criminal. Both must do their best to hide their true identity and maintain the appearances of their daily lives. As J discovers firsthand how brutal and difficult a girl's school life can be, Megumi seems to be enjoying her tough new existence immensely!
