After more than 15 years since the broadcast of its iconic anime adaptation in 2010, the zombie survival franchise favorite of many is back. CTW Cayman has announced that its new browser video game, High School of the Dead: Day 0, will be officially released on the G123 platform this coming April 28, 2026.

Survive the apocalypse in Tower Defense format

This new title is a tower defense role-playing game that puts players in Takashi Komuro's shoes. The main mission is to survive in a world plagued by zombies, known simply as "Them." The gameplay focuses on building and managing a secure base while recruiting a team of characters to repel waves of enemies in strategic battles that will require careful planning.

One of the biggest draws of High School of the Dead: Day 0 is that all of the character art has been created from the ground up for this project. Fans will be able to enjoy faithful recreations of memorable scenes from the original anime combined with all-new designs. Additionally, players will have the option to unlock alternate outfits for the cast, such as swimsuits and casual wear, adding visual variety to the intense missions.

Pre-registration and global launch

The confirmed cast features the classic protagonists of Daisuke Sato and Shoji Sato's play, including Takashi Komuro, Rei Miyamoto, and the lethal kendo expert, Saeko Busujima, with more allies that can be recruited as the story progresses. Developed as a free-to-play title with optional purchases, the game stands out for being very accessible, as it requires no downloads and is played directly in the browser. From day one, it will be supported in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

Pre-registration campaigns are now live and offer rewards based on total enrollment goals. Starting prizes include supply box keys, but the most coveted reward for higher levels is an exclusive kunoichi skin for Saeko Busujima. With the days numbered until its big debut, fans are ready to return to Fujimi High School and defend their favorite characters from the undead hordes.
