The wait is over! No Game No Life Releases Volume 13 After Three Years of Hiatus

The content drought is finally over for fans of the most famous gamer brothers in anime and Japanese literature. This Friday, the official website of the No Game No Life franchise (No Game No Life) revealed an exciting new promotional trailer to celebrate the long-awaited physical release of Volume 13 of the light novels in Japan.

The triumphant return to Disboard

This release marks an extremely important moment, as it is the first new volume in the series in more than three years, following the publication of Volume 12 in February 2023. To make the announcement even more special, the promotional trailer features narration by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, the acclaimed voice actor who gave life to Sora in the unforgettable 2014 animated adaptation.

Written and illustrated by Yuu Kamiya since April 2012, the story follows Sora and Shiro, two genius video game brothers who are transported to Disboard, a fantasy world where absolutely everything (from personal disputes to the fate of entire nations) is decided through games. In this new reality, the invincible duo must use their abilities to help humanity survive and thrive against other magical races.

A decade of success and the hope of a sequel

During this long hiatus, readers have kept interest alive by debating theories about the upcoming challenges that Sora and Shiro will face. Although the trailer didn't detail the key plot points at length, it made it clear that the novel will delve into the characters' relationships and raise the tension in its high-stakes bets.

Despite the overwhelming popularity of the anime adaptation produced by the Madhouse studio more than a decade ago, this Friday's announcement did not include any mention of future animated projects or the much-requested second season (a topic that the author himself has had to address on several occasions). For now, fans of No Game No Life can celebrate that the brothers' adventure continues in print, proving that the game is far from over.
