If you felt
that the closing of the eighth season had left you wanting a last goodbye, your
prayers have been heard. This Saturday, April 25, the official
website of the animated adaptation of My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero
Academia) premiered a new and emotional official trailer for
its additional special episode titled "More". This
chapter, formally cataloged as the 170+1 episode of the franchise, has set its
premiere for May 2, 2026, and Crunchyroll has already
confirmed that it will be in charge of broadcasting it worldwide on the same
day of its broadcast in Japan.
The

The Real
Closure Hidden in Volume 42
This
episode is not a simple filler to squeeze nostalgia, but completely canonical
material and vital to the plot. Creator Kohei Horikoshi concluded
the publication of the successful shonen manga in the pages
of the Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2024. However, for the
release of Volume 42 printed in December of that same year,
the author drew 38 pages of new content. This episode will animate precisely
that material, focused on chapter 431, offering a much more solid resolution
than the ending seen on broadcast television at the end of 2024.
What is
the special episode More about?
After the
apocalyptic final war and the closure of the regular broadcast, the story
promised us that the journey of the new generation of heroes continued. The new
trailer teases us that this chapter will explore the direct aftermath of the
conflict, showing moments of calm, reflection, and key interactions among
students as they come to terms with the harsh cost of peace and the future they
forged with their own hands.
In addition
to the small screen, the legacy of the work will live on through the musical
event "My Hero Academia in Concert", an ambitious world tour
orchestrated by composer Yuki Hayashi that will kick off in
Japan at the end of May and then visit the United States and Europe.
Undoubtedly, this new animated episode will serve as the perfect farewell gift
for a franchise that has already surpassed the monumental barrier of 100
million copies sold globally.
