Comedies
with supernatural overtones and somewhat compromising situations always find
their place in the summer season. This Tuesday, April 28, the official
website for the television anime adaptation of the manga Kamui-san
Directly Behind You (Ushiro no Shomen Kamui-san) opened its doors to
the public revealing its first official trailer and a new
promotional image. The project confirmed its main cast and set its
long-awaited premiere in July 2026.

To carry
the weight of a comedy of this style and bring its eccentricities to life, the
production committee put together a cast full of industry veterans, led by one
of the most iconic voice actors in Japanese humor. Here are the talents that
will bring this crazy group to life:

The team
behind the purifications
The
animation is in charge of the Zero-G and ZG-R studios, under
the meticulous direction of Takumi Tsukumo. The scripts will be under the
supervision of Motofumi Nakajo, while the attractive character designs are
adapted by Toshinari Yamashita. Interestingly, the series will feature two
different sound directors: Shuhei Abe for the standard TV version and
Nankai-Teio for the uncensored version of the Deregula label, which gives us an
idea of the tone of the work.
What
makes this psychic so peculiar?
Based on
the hit manga written by Eroki and illustrated by Shinko
Konoshiro, the story follows Shizuka, a completely ordinary high school
girl who has the terrible misfortune of being able to see ghosts and be
possessed by evil spirits with extreme ease.
To deal
with her problem, she ends up being hired as an assistant (and often as human
bait) by Kamui, a ridiculously handsome and highly skilled psychic who
uses extremely peculiar, perverted, and unorthodox exorcism methods. Together
they will have to cleanse their city of supernatural entities while Shizuka
tries to survive both the constant possessions and the embarrassing cures of
her new boss.
