The author of 86: Eighty-Six will release her new light novel this June

Did you think that after blowing up the market with one of the crudest war dramas in the industry, the author was going to take a long vacation? Not at all. Asato Asato already has his next big shot on the table. Just this week they dropped the bombshell: the new work of this mastermind is entitled The Yaebuki Agency: Records of Traversing the Senmanjou Tower. Mark June 10, 2026 on your calendars. That is the exact day that this gigantic adventure will land in Japanese bookstores under the prestigious and unmistakable seal of Dengeki Bunko.

The talents that build this mysterious tower

Starting a universe from scratch is never easy. Luckily, the editorial team spared no visual talent to accompany this brutal mix of science fiction and spiritual action. The pieces are already on the board and, although we have not yet been released the exact names of the protagonists, we do know who the architects behind this light novel are. Here are those responsible for bringing this project to life:

  • Asato Asato as Original Author.

The writer officially leaves her military comfort zone to give us her first major project completely removed from the universe that catapulted her to world fame.

  • necomi in the main illustrations.

The talent in charge of giving faces and expressions to the characters who will try to survive this imminent disaster.

  • Ozaki Imari in World Design.

A specialized artist who will have the colossal task of visually structuring the mysterious giant tower and the magical elements that surround it.

The very long road from the trenches of 86

Let's remember a little. Asato Asato has been writing since he was in high school. He knocked on a lot of doors, participated in children's contests and, finally, hit the jackpot in 2016 when he swept the Grand Prize in the 23rd edition of the Dengeki Novel Prize. That's where the brutality of 86: Eighty Six was born in 2017. The result? A huge success that addressed war, discrimination and human resilience. We had main volumes, short stories, mangas and a very high-level anime between 2021 and 2022 where she herself got fully involved in reviewing scripts and designs. It was only in September 2025 that the final arc of that story began with its volume 14. This new agency is his great leap into the void; his way of showing that he has much more gunpowder in store.

What exactly is this new sorcerer agency about?

Forget about the spider drones of your previous work. Here things are much more mystical and direct. A disaster of apocalyptic proportions is fast approaching. To stop him, an elite agency linked to the imperial palace itself receives a suicide order: they must climb and conquer a gigantic and mysterious tower. The squad in charge? Two twin sorcerers and a tough female guard. These three will have to reluctantly join forces to slaughter and fight their way through a dangerous cult that blocks their way to the top. The trap is that none of the three protagonists is there out of simple heroism; each one carries their own dark personal reasons for getting fully into this lethal spiritual fantasy
