The wait is over! Author of More Than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers returns to manga after a year-long hiatus

The good news has finally arrived for fans of romantic comedies. Yuuki Kanamaru, the talented author behind the hit manga More Than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers (Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman), has officially announced her return to work after overcoming a difficult personal stage that kept her away from the manga industry for more than a year.

A necessary break for mental health

As many readers will recall, Kanamaru halted the serialization of his work at the end of March 2025. At that time, the mangaka was very open with her community, explaining that she was going through a moment of great emotional vulnerability. She used a very personal metaphor to describe her situation, stating that the "twins in her head were fighting," which led her to make mistakes and feel like she was causing problems for others. She asked her fans for patience as she tried to find a way to get along better with herself and heal.

Fortunately, that dark period seems to be behind us. Through two emotional updates published on April 12 and 13, 2026, Kanamaru confirmed that he has taken up pencils again. In his first message, he revealed that he had just finished working on part of the script, but warned that, to avoid any kind of spoiler, he would not be able to show a single glimpse of his progress from now on.

Massive support from the otaku community

The response from fans was immediate and overwhelming. The next day, the author confessed with surprise that her social media notifications had turned into a complete frenzy. She deeply thanked all the readers for having waited for her during all this time and for filling her with messages of support in her long-awaited return.

As for when exactly we will be able to read the new chapters of More Than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers, Kanamaru clarified that the official resumption date will be decided soon after consultation with the magazine's editorial team. Although he warned that it will probably be a little longer before he sees the manga in print again, he assured that he is already doing everything possible to prepare for his triumphant return. Undoubtedly, this is a victory for both the creator and the fans, demonstrating the importance of prioritizing health and well-being in such a demanding medium.
