Desires
born of hatred always bring unpredictable consequences, especially when
supernatural forces are involved. This Thursday, acclaimed studio CoMix
Wave Films surprised the community by releasing a spectacular
new trailer for its upcoming anime short film titled Shiranui.
This ambitious production, which marks the debut of rookie director Ryo
Katanosaka (who curiously worked in the fishmonger section of a
supermarket), is scheduled to be released in Japanese theaters on August
21.
The
talent behind the tragedy
To bring
this dramatic tale to life, the production has assembled an extremely
interesting cast:
- year as Minato.
The popular singer makes her big debut as a seiyuu taking on this complex leading role. - Kana Hanazawa as Ben-chan
Recognized worldwide for giving life to Mitsuri Kanroji in Demon Slayer and Nadeko Sengoku in the Monogatari franchise. - Shinichiro Miki as Masaru
Industry veteran famous for playing Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Kisuke Urahara in Bleach.
The sound
section will be supported by the melancholic music of Taro Umebayashi,
while the singer-songwriter Ichiko Aoba will be in charge of
interpreting the main theme of this intriguing story that will last
approximately 35 minutes.

Details
The story
takes us to the coast of Kumamoto at the end of the summer of 1996. There we
meet Minato, a ten-year-old boy with a miserable life with his alcoholic
father. Her only refuge is Ben-chan, a girl-like goddess who inhabits Benten
Island. When Minato discovers that he will be sent to an orphanage, he prays to
a mysterious sea light known as Shiranui to fulfill one last request. His
desire, laden with resentment towards his father, will soon be transformed into
a dark curse.
