If you
thought that the franchise was going to let your wallet and emotions rest, you
are completely wrong. Just to celebrate the release of the third and final
compilation volume of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the all-powerful MAPPA
studio has just released a promotional video that has the entire
fandom on its head. And it's no wonder, seeing an official animation of this
quality to say goodbye to a short story is a luxury that very few manga can
afford.
For those
who lost track of this madness, this spin-off manga written
under the blessing of Gege Akutami catapulted us 68 years into
the future. Specifically to the year 2086, long after the brutal arc of the
Culling Game. The story introduced us to Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu facing a
threat that no one saw coming: an alien race called Simurians. The
serialization in the Weekly Shonen Jump was quite short,
spanning from September 2025 to March of this year, but it managed to make its
mark by expanding the curse universe into science fiction.
The detail
that really hit us in nostalgia with this new promo was the sound section.
Under the slogan of "The cycle of curses ends", the trailer brought
us back to the main series thanks to the voices of Junya Enoki as Yuji
Itadori and Nobunaga Shimazaki as the sadistic Mahito.
Listening to these titans narrating a preview set so many decades in the future
managed to create a perfect emotional bridge between the original work and this
futuristic sequel.
The
copium of a complete adaptation
Let's make
something super clear before expectations get out of control: this video
directed by Shun Miyakawa is solely and exclusively a commercial to sell
the final volume. To this day, there is absolutely no official plan
to turn the story of the Okkotsu brothers into a television anime.
It's simply a visual treat to thank the readers who followed the publication
week after week.
Still, the
impeccable animation quality that MAPPA printed in a few
seconds was enough to ignite the spark of hope. The choreography and dense
atmosphere are intact, proving that the studio remains committed to the brand
to the core.
