Fairy tales taught us as children that
stepmothers and stepsisters are synonymous with absolute cruelty, domestic
exploitation and poisoned apples. That old narrative is about to get a complete
twist because not all surrogate families want to make your life miserable. The
animated adaptation of My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't
Wicked (Gibo to Gishi ga Warui Wake ga Nai) made this
change of scenery official by presenting a new promotional video and confirming
that its premiere date was set for July 8. This trailer offers a
direct look at the warm and emotional tone that the series will handle, showing
key moments of daily coexistence and emphasizing the contrast between the fears
of the protagonist and the kind reality that receives her.
The Production Team
To transfer this comforting family dynamic to
the animated format, director Keisuke Inoue leads the project
from the studios in charge of the production. The scripts and composition of
the series are in charge of Nanami Hoshino, ensuring that the
development of family ties feels natural, while Mutsumi Sasaki takes
on the dual responsibility of character design and chief animation direction.
The musical atmosphere and soundtrack are in the hands of composer Rina
Tayama. In addition, the sound section stands out with the participation of
the renowned singer Lia, who performs the opening theme entitled "Amayadori
no Shokei", complemented by the group AVAM in
charge of the ending song entitled "Claire".
Sobre My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't
Wicked
For those who love to judge a book by its cover
and then end up with their mouths open, the source material is a manga written
and illustrated by Otsuji, originally published through the digital
platform Comic Pool of the Ichijinsha publishing house. The
work has earned the constant appreciation of readers thanks to its proposal to
subvert the traditional clichés of family dramas, betting on empathy and
sweetness instead of forced conflict.
The plot focuses on Miya, the illegitimate
daughter of a family of great social status. After suffering the painful loss
of her mother, Miya is transferred to her biological father's huge estate, a
place where she swears she will go through an unimaginable ordeal under the
yoke of her new stepmother and stepsisters. However, all his paranoia collapses
the instant he walks through the door: the women he feared so much turn out to
be genuinely kind people, willing to give him a real home. What was painted to
be a tragic story of school and domestic misery quickly transforms into a tale
of healing, acceptance, and the true bonds of a found family.
Sometimes a quiet anime full of good vibes is
just what is needed to cleanse the palate between so many frenetic action
series.
