We live in
an age where pretending to be someone impeccable in front of others is almost a
requirement to survive the social day to day, but maintaining a façade of a
model student twenty-four hours a day ends up tiring anyone. The play Fall
in Love, You False Angels (Koiseyo Mayakashi Tenshi-dome) made
its animated production official with a premiere scheduled for 2027.
The news was announced this Thursday, June 11, through the promotional ribbon
of the seventh compilation volume of the manga in Japan, opening an official
account on social media to share the news of the project along with a
commemorative illustration made by the author, Coco Uzuki.
Although
details about the voice cast or the technical team in charge of the animation
have not yet been revealed, the confirmation of the series has already
generated quite a bit of noise due to the great success of its source material.
The story has managed to win over readers thanks to its ingenious way of
approaching teenage relationships, moving away from flat characters to offer a
dynamic of "accomplices" that completely refreshes the usual formulas
of romance. Its great reception in the market is supported by weighty awards,
having won the Kodansha Manga Awards in 2025, in addition to obtaining
nominations for the Shogakukan Manga Award and consecutively appearing in the
top 20 of the famous Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide for female
audiences.
About
Fall in Love, You False Angels
For those
who spend their time accumulating volumes on their to-do list without reading
anything (believe me, you're missing out on something good), this work began
its serialization in April 2023 within Kodansha's Dessert magazine.
The plot follows in the footsteps of Otogi Katsura, the president of the first
year of high school, known to everyone as a sweet, polite and perfect girl.
However, behind that façade of a saint hides an extremely frank, rude and
unfiltered personality, willing to put anyone in their place when the situation
requires it.
Her secret
is in danger the day she confronts some annoying boys at the train station and
is discovered by Toki Ninomae, the quiet and supposedly impeccable school
vice-president. To Otogi's surprise, Toki not only enjoys seeing his aggressive
side, but he himself hides a very different side from the one he shows in the
classroom. Thus, both end up agreeing to an alliance to protect their true
personalities from the rest of the school, a deal that will inevitably force
them to become extremely close both in public and in private.
