Reinterpreting an absolute pillar of cyberpunk that shaped modern science fiction is dangerous terrain where veteran fans do not forgive the slightest mistake. The bar is very high, but Science SARU seems willing to take the risk with its new visual proposal.

This ambitious production officially presented its fourth promotional video, confirming that the premiere of the animated series will take place globally this coming July 7. The video trailer not only allows a detailed look at the aesthetics of the characters, but also formally introduces the closing theme titled "Blue", a musical collaboration of the group MILLENNIUM PARADE with Saya Gray and Daniel Caesar.

Before hitting screens on July 7, the anime will have two international appearances that will give a select audience a sneak peek at the project. The Annecy International Animation Festival in June will host the world premiere of the first two episodes. In addition, on July 4 there will be a special screening at the Anime Expo at JW Diamond Hall at 2:45 p.m. Pacific Time, followed by a panel featuring director Mokochan, character designer Shuhei Handa, and other producers. For a franchise of this weight, it is not a minor detail that the international commitment is so active before the premiere.

Sobre Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell (Kokaku Kidotai) is one of the most influential franchises in Japanese science fiction. Originating from Masamune Shirow's manga in 1989, it spawned Mamoru Oshii's animated film in 1995, which redefined what anime could do as a means of philosophical and visual expression. Since then the franchise expanded through series such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, additional films and other adaptations. The new version of Science SARU was announced in May 2024 and represents the debut of the studio founded by Masaaki Yuasa in one of the most demanding universes of Japanese anime.

Modifying the atmosphere of such a sacred cult work will always divide the community between pure nostalgia and curiosity for new perspectives.
