The most powerful magician in the world wanted to retire. The world, as always, had other plans. The fantasy franchise The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan (Saikyou Mahoushi no Insei Keikaku) officially announced that it will have an anime adaptation scheduled to premiere sometime in 2027. To accompany this revelation, those responsible shared a first video trailer along with a promotional image where the iconic Tower of Babel stands out in the middle of a landscape devastated by creatures, giving us the first glimpse of its imposing protagonist. The video preview shows us a little of the enormous magical force of the hero in the middle of combat, anticipating the encounters and challenges that await him when trying to start from scratch in a school environment.Yuto Uemura will voice the protagonist Alus Reigin, recognized as the most powerful mage among more than a hundred thousand magic users in his world.

Along with the announcement of the anime, a prequel manga titled The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan Zero: Secret Records of the Beginning was also revealed, illustrated by Karu Yoneshiro, the same artist of the original manga adaptation. The prequel material will explore the events that led to Alus enrolling in the Second Academy of Magic, including how he earned his reputation as the world's strongest solo wizard and the hidden history that shaped him.

Yuto Uemura shared his impressions of the role: he described Alus as someone incredibly firm who almost nothing manages to destabilise, and pointed out that precisely that distance he maintains in conversations gives him a particular and elusive presence. The original author, Izushiro, expressed that he feels that he has finally "become someone" with this announcement, and thanked readers, illustrators, the manga team and the studio for bringing the story here.

The franchise exceeds one million copies in circulation. The story follows Alus Reigin, the most powerful wizard in a world where magic users exceed one hundred thousand. Exhausted from carrying only that weight, he decides to hide under a different identity and enroll in an academy to train the next generation while still facing monsters.
