Beryl Gardinant thought he was done. His students have other ideas. The new trailer for the second season of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman arrived to confirm the return of this middle-aged swordsman who can't stop being the best no matter how hard he tries, with a premiere scheduled for July 2026. The video opens with a quiet moment of Beryl greeting those around him before cutting to combat sequences that make it clear that this season is going to increase the intensity.

This advance also serves as a letter of introduction for their main songs: the band Unicorn will be in charge of the opening song entitled "Kurenai no Ha", while the group BLUE ENCOUNT will put all the adrenaline in the closing with the ending "Mikansei".

Sobre From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman

For those who are accumulating series without catching up, this franchise originally started in the format of light fantasy novels written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. The work enjoys immense popularity, having made the leap to a manga adaptation by Kazuki Sato and boasting a couple of spin-off stories that, together, have surpassed the incredible mark of eight million copies in circulation in the Japanese market since the premiere of its first batch of episodes in April 2025.

The story introduces us to Beryl Gardinant, a mature and rather humble man who lives peacefully in a rural village, not really aware that his skills with the sword make him a legendary master of unquestionable caliber. His quiet routine is turned upside down when he is recruited as a special instructor for the knights of the Order of Liberion, a prestigious position that forces him to reunite with his former students. Although he insists that he is just an old man from the countryside looking to retire, his devoted pupils — who now occupy positions of immense political and military power — have no intention of letting him escape the spotlight.

Having a mature protagonist who is genuinely unaware of how absurdly strong he is in the face of young prodigies always gives a very fresh air to the sword genre.
