The Elusive Samurai Season Two Reveals New Trailer

The wait is over for the followers of tactical escapes and extreme survival. The production committee behind the animated adaptation of The Elusive Samurai (known in Japan as Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi) unleashed all the heavy artillery this weekend by releasing its new main promo video. The preview marks July 17 on the calendar as the definitive premiere date for its long-awaited second season.

To maintain that very high level of animation that captivated the audience during its first broadcast in 2024, the CloverWorks offices ensured the immediate return of its key pieces. The direction of the project is once again on the shoulders of Yuta Yamazaki, who will work directly with Yoriko Tomita in the structural supervision of the scripts. The characteristic art style, capable of jumping from absurd comedy to warlike crudeness in seconds, will continue to be under the responsibility of Yasushi Nishiya as chief animation director and character designer.

This new trailer also worked as a letter of introduction for the musical section. It was confirmed that the new opening theme will be titled "Onigoto" and will be performed by singer Kento Nakajima, injecting a lot of energy into the misadventures of the young heir to the Hojo clan in his constant attempt to recover what was taken from him.

The Assassination Classroom creator's absolute triumph

It is worth remembering that this whole odyssey of betrayals in the Kamakura period was born from the mind of the talented mangaka Yusei Matsui, a heavy name within the industry who had already paralyzed the world with his legendary work Assassination Classroom. Tokiyuki's story was serialized in the demanding pages of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from January 2021 until signing its epic finale in February 2026. Its impact on paper was so brutal that it ended up being crowned with the award at the 69th edition of the Shogakukan Manga Awards, proving that its narrative is a phenomenon on all fronts.
